McKee and Smyth take Northerns

The Flying Fifteen Northern Championships took place in the picturesque village of Whitehead at the weekend, hosted by County Antrim Boat Yacht Club in their newly renovated clubhouse. Brian McKee and Ian Smyth (SLYC) emerged as worthy winners in varied and testing conditions.

Peter, Jo tops in Portaferry

On Saturday 11th September, Portaferry Sailing Club hosted its annual Boston Trophy event for Flying Fifteens. There was a good turnout of 14 boats who enjoyed a challenging three-race series in fresh but fluctuating winds.

Martin, Murray are national champions

Darren Martin and Simon Murray of Strangford Lough YC are the 2010 Irish Flying Fifteen Champions, after they extended their lead at Carrickfergus in the final two races. The National YC's John Lavery and David O'Brien, who had been on equal points overnight, retained second place overall. Strangford's Brian McKee and Steven Martin took third in the event, which had 29 entries.

34 boats, including 15 from the National Yacht Club, competed for the Flying Fifteen East Coast Championships, held at Carlingford Sailing Club on the weekend of September 25-26. Chris Doorly reports

Neck and neck in Carrick

Darren Martin and Simon Murray of Strangford Lough YC hold the narrowest of leads on the break after four races at the National Championships at Carrickfergus, with Dun Laoghaire's John Lavery and David O'Brien second, on equal points.  David Gorman and Chris Doorly of the National YC lie third. Full first day results
