Lavery and O'Brien score five wins to take Irish title in style

The National Yacht Club's John Lavery and David O'Brien won five races out of five at Strangford Lough to win the Championship of Ireland in emphatic style.

Strangford sailors Brian McKee and Steve Martin scored a consistent set of results just behind the Dun Laoghaire pair, to finish second overall in the 23-boat fleet, with Roger Chamberlain and Charlie Horder placed third. The title was not defended by 2011 champions, Dave Gorman and Chris Doorly, also of NYC.

Chamberlain, Baker take Southern honours at Carlingford

Two wins in the last two races brought Strangford Lough YC's Roger Chamberlain and Hammy Baker overall victory in the 2012 Southern Championship at Carlingford.

Second place went to Gerry Reilly and Tony Quail, of Strangford SC, with clubmates Brian McKee and Steven Martin very close behind. Top of the small fleet travelling from Dun Laoghaire's National YC were Dave Mulvin and Ronan Beirne, who came in seventh overall. Full results.

Lavery and O'Brien pipped to fourth at UK Nationals

The National Yacht Club's John Lavery and David O'Brien finished an unlucky fourth overall in the Allen UK Flying Fifteen Nationals today, after wind conditions saw racing cancelled for the second day.

UK nationals racing cancelled

No racing was possible yesterday, Sunday 22nd, at Largs at the UK Allen Flying Fifteen Nationals, leaving Ireland's John Lavery and David O'Brien in fourth place, and just two points off the lead, going into today's racing.
