Gorman and Doorly win convincing victory at Mitsubishi Nationals

Dun Laoghaire aces Dave Gorman and Chris Doorly won a convincing victory at the Mitsubishi  Flying Fifteen National Championship held over the weekend at their home club. 

With 32 boats competing, the National YC duo scored two firsts with consistently high finishes over seven races, and in the end had a race to spare. 


Green, Apthorp score 5th at Worlds after dramatic fight-back

Alan Green of Dun Laoghaire’s National Yacht Club, crewing with Charles Apthorp, scored a fifth overall at the Flying Fifteen World Championship at Crozon-Morgat in France over the past week.

The pair, entered under the burgee of the NYC, where Apthorp is a frequent visitor, scored a first and a second in the last two races of the event to climb the rankings and recover from an earlier setback when they were ruled on course side in Race 3, a decision upheld despite an appeal.


Gorman and Doorly take South Coast trophy in Waterford waves

Dave Gorman and Chris Doorly (pictured below) continued their successful 2015 season at the weekend, with three firsts in five races and a retiral to spare in the event sailed in big Dunmore East seas.

Their NYC clubmates Ben Mulligan and Alan Green took second, with Bryan Willis and John McPeake of CAYC third. report

Consistent results win Northern trophy for Gorman and Doorly

Dave Gorman and Chris Doorly's consistent results in a 19-boat fleet won them the 2015 Northern Championship at Whiterock at the weekend (June 13, 14).

Their NYC clubmates Ian Mathews and Keith Poole took second place in the the event,  hosted by Strangford Lough YC  and sailed in perfect conditions. Roger Chamberlain and Simon Murray from the local club were third.

There was also a great performance from Lee Statham & Andy Paul (WHSC) who finished fourth in their first event. report    |  Full results below
